Contact the Church office to reserve your spot. \n1) At the Mercy of the Mercy of Christ\, Led by Pastor Rick \nLent is a 40-day season of reflection and repentance. It invites us to confront our sin with prayer and fasting. We start in ashes and begin a journey to the joyous celebration of resurrection at Easter. In a season of repentance\, we confront our sin. But the practices we engage in during Lent to remind us of the need for repentance and turn again toward Christ are not how we get to Easter. Instead\, we have to remember that the battle with sin is one we cannot win—not on our own. The lesson of Lent is that we are to throw ourselves at the feet of Jesus\, relying upon his tender mercy. These seven weeks will help lead you into true repentance and to the feet of the real victor\, Christ. We will lament with the psalmists\, look to the new and greater Adam\, marvel at the grace he offers\, and seek to follow him in humility. Along the way\, we look to Christ’s merciful work—it alone is what will bring us to the “Alleluia” of Easter morning. \n2) Faith Foundations (Adult Confirmation)\, 8-Week Session Led by Kevin Fitz \nBased on Martin Luther’s Small Catechism and some additional materials\, the goal of this class is to reaffirm our faith and to orient those who did not grow up in the Lutheran tradition. We will cover The Ten Commandments\, The Apostles & Nicaean Creeds\, The Lord’s Prayer\, The Sacraments\, Confession\, Grace and Prayer. Additionally\, the class will belong to you\, and we will cover other topics\, traditions and attempt to bring clarity of other faith traditions in relationship to the Lutheran walk. Information on reading materials will be available soon. DESCRIPTION:  \n\n \n\n\n\nGood Shepherd has partnered with the Utah Food Bank and is hosting their Mobile Food Pantry program. Details on the Utah Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry program can be found on their website (utahfoodbank.org).  \n\n\n\nOn Saturday morning the event will be hosted in the Good Shepherd parking lot and food will be provided to the first 180 families. After participating in LCMC’s constituting convention\, she has served as a pastor in LCMC congregations\, invested in the work of her own district\, helped to start and lead a seminary\, and served on the LCMC Board of Trustees before joining the LCMC staff as the coordinator for districts and fellowships. \nJulie is a life-long Lutheran and became a pastor in 1998. She has served congregations in Clarkfield\, Bock\, and Springfield (all in Minnesota). In addition\, she served for several years as a Bible camp director. She is also a co-founder of St. Paul Lutheran Seminary. \nJulie is a sports fan\, and while high school football is a favorite\, NBA games featuring any former Minnesota Timberwolves are a close second. Like all Minnesotans\, Julie believes as many summer days as possible should be spent at the lake\, with the Twins on the radio. Please don’t ask her about the Vikings. \nJulie is a graduate of Luther Seminary and loves any opportunity to teach\, whether that’s leading silly Bible skits with first graders or giving seminary students some pointers in preaching. She has previously served on the LCMC Board of Trustees and has worked with the Augustana and Epiphany Districts of LCMC.Pre-Conference Service Project \n  \n  \nBreakout Sessions\n“When Our Own Words Fail Us: The Catechism and the Language of Faith.”- Pastor Julie Smith \nA breakout session focused on uderstanding and teaching the Small Catechism. \n  \nSpiritual Practice To Spirit-Led Life – Pastor Neil Arnold \nWhat does it mean to be led by the Spirit of God? St. Paul tells us: we believers are a dwelling place for the Holy Spirit and proclaiming “Jesus is Lord” requires that Spirit. Yet the Spirit comes to us as God’s gift\, in God’s time. God’s Spirit is not our possession. It belongs to God\, whose sovereignty requires us to learn to wait upon him. Thus\, for our purposes\, spiritual practice is a collection of deliberate acts to train our hearts to trust and wait upon God. DESCRIPTION:Come to Sunday service and stay for a Bible study. We have 3 Bible studies available from 11:00 AM to noon beginning February 22. Contact the Church office to reserve your spot. \n1) At the Mercy of the Mercy of Christ\, Led by Pastor Rick \nLent is a 40-day season of reflection and repentance. It invites us to confront our sin with prayer and fasting. We start in ashes and begin a journey to the joyous celebration of resurrection at Easter. In a season of repentance\, we confront our sin. But the practices we engage in during Lent to remind us of the need for repentance and turn again toward Christ are not how we get to Easter. Instead\, we have to remember that the battle with sin is one we cannot win—not on our own. The lesson of Lent is that we are to throw ourselves at the feet of Jesus\, relying upon his tender mercy. These seven weeks will help lead you into true repentance and to the feet of the real victor\, Christ. We will lament with the psalmists\, look to the new and greater Adam\, marvel at the grace he offers\, and seek to follow him in humility. Along the way\, we look to Christ’s merciful work—it alone is what will bring us to the “Alleluia” of Easter morning. \n2) Faith Foundations (Adult Confirmation)\, 8-Week Session Led by Kevin Fitz \nBased on Martin Luther’s Small Catechism and some additional materials\, the goal of this class is to reaffirm our faith and to orient those who did not grow up in the Lutheran tradition. We will cover The Ten Commandments\, The Apostles & Nicaean Creeds\, The Lord’s Prayer\, The Sacraments\, Confession\, Grace and Prayer. Additionally\, the class will belong to you\, and we will cover other topics\, traditions and attempt to bring clarity of other faith traditions in relationship to the Lutheran walk. Information on reading materials will be available soon. DESCRIPTION:  \n\n \n\n\n\nGood Shepherd has partnered with the Utah Food Bank and is hosting their Mobile Food Pantry program. Details on the Utah Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry program can be found on their website (utahfoodbank.org).  \n\n\n\nOn Saturday morning the event will be hosted in the Good Shepherd parking lot and food will be provided to the first 180 families.
