What is GC2? We like to pronounce it GC squared. As we were in prayer together with many of the leaders of the congregation and a facilitator from LCMC it was becoming clear that God’s “why” for us was “Love God, Love Others, and Make Disciples.”

What is GC2?

Throughout the conversation we understood that the heart of His vision for us came from two important commandments. The first was the Great Commandment:

“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’  The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”  Mark 12:29-31

The second was the Great Commission:

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

GC2 is our way of remembering that God’s vision for us comes directly from His Great Commandment GC, and His Great Commission, GC2. Our purpose as a congregation is to live out GC2 in all that we do. All of our ministries will flow through GC2. Worship, sermons, fellowship, service, evangelism, and prayer will be done by loving God, loving others, and making disciples. As we develop and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ we will become a community of love for God, love for each other, and love for the world that Jesus died and rose to save.
