Lent 2025 – 5th & 6th Commandment

Pastor Jeff “Ffej” Stephenson

Lent 2025

Exodus 20: 13-14 – Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not commit adultery. In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus raises the bar for us when He speaks to the depth of the relationship that God is seeking with us. God is not looking for a surface relationship with His people, He wants our heart. This desire is reflected in the commands to not kill and to not commit adultery. In walking in obedience to God we reflect His goodness and glory to the world. Commandments 5 and 6 show a God of Life and a God of Faithfulness to the world..

Lent 2025

Honor Your Father and Mother: Honoring our parents is the first compass for all our future relationships. If our compass is broken, we may feel lost, stuck in cycles of conflict, or distant from God’s blessings. But God offers us a way to rebuild and receive a new compass through Him—by loving, honoring, resting, and receiving from Him. When we honor our parents, we cultivate healthy relationships, peace, and a life aligned with God’s will. This week, take one step—choose honor, even when it’s hard.

Returning to God means honoring His name and resting in His truth. When we misuse His name, we erode His power in our hearts and minds. But when wespeak and live with reverence, set apart time for holy rest, and reflect His character in our relationships, we keep His name holy and find true rest in Him. Jesus calls us to take His yoke and trust in His goodness. Obey, trust, and rest in the Lord today!
